Hush now, you don’t want to startle it, do you?
Perched on the lowest branch,
It's magnificent feathers almost touching the ground.
The bark would peel off if we try,
Rich brown, moistened by the season’s first monsoon.
Careful, we mustn’t frighten it!
Deep Blue, as though the azure Delhi sky
Had dripped into it's skin.
Proud, as the lineage of rulers
Who once strutted on this soil.
Hush! Listen to them calling out!
Pursue the sight of this enchanting bird I must,
Sighing, for this is all that remains
Of a once fascinating life
Donne the clothes of a lady I must
But for one passion to legally own,
To scamper into the wild,
For the prize of a token left behind,
In the flight of
The first lady of our nation’s birds.

i think u were waiting for the rains to arrive to post this one
well i am not lucky enough to find peacocks out here
and the zoo is quite faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar
away from where i reside , so i havent seen it offering one of the most beautiful of the sites that one can offer.
though wishing to see it someday.
oui gul's back, a bit of me atleast... the rains had to resuscitate me... my eyes hurt though, too much of comp at job:( which is why i've almost dissapeared from d blog world :(
well atleast a bit of gul is better than no gul.
ya its really a bit difficult to be sitting in front of this screen
but hopefully wud be hearing a bit from u regularly
Ha Ha! *Pointing out in glee*
Look who's back!
Raining there in Delhi it appears!
Good Good... the clouds just passed by us in the outskirts of Madras.
And you get to see peacocks?? WoW!
You see: you win! Could your haemmorrhoid colleagues write this?
Thank you.
floots- :) last 24 hours i've been in a state commonly referred to as 'hitting rock bottom'. paranoid. depressed. writhing from a recent onslaught on my style by d boss. trying. trying. which is why i said this means a lot to me, and it comes perfectly timed. thank you.
arindham- yes peacocks, long after i left delhi i used to remember them, and now that i'm back here my fascination with them continues... come to delhi sometime, i'll take u peacock hunting! (like as in treasure hunt and not like patouddi hutin!)
don't believe the unbelievers.. your writing style is quite unique..
and i love this piece, even though my interest in ornithology is quite negligible, except when broiled or grilled, and in the near vicinity of a cold bottle! :-)
oye in laymans(like me) term your writing is quite above an average persons ..
may be u are not able to give ur boss what he expects yet u r right on track.
paddy- thank you
saurabh- lol! ornithology indeed!
you should write more often!!
:)
